Hello all...
I was wondering if anyone knew what snare Vinnie plays...from the looks of it, Steve is using the same one on his video as Vinnie used circa the Sting years...brass...?
Any help appreciated...

He uses many different snares, one of his favorites I see him use is a vintage Chrome over Brass 5x14 Gretsch. I own one and these are killer drums.

Well, if you are talking of the Greg Mathieson 2 disc set that came out last year, I was there for one night, and he was using his signature set, which includes a Gretsch (maple, i beleive) snare. You can view the specs on the Gretsch website.

rlhubley: I think you nailed it...that was the show I was referring to (and I am INSANELY jealous that you were there!)I'll be sure to check the specs on the gretsch site.
as for the snare that I originally mentioned...can anyone put a name on the brass one he played on tour with Sting?
I'm looking for a new snare, and want to make sure I hit all my options....
thanks all,

Vinnie uses a Longo Custom Snare drum for most of his Baked Potato gigs, and for about 200 sessions in the past 4 years. I have posted about this drum a few times. If any one is interested in getting one let me know! I am having that same snare custom made for me by Longo. It is a one man company on the east coast.
